The eyes are probably the most important feature to consider when creating your look. When it comes to eye makeup, here are a few words of advice:
- If you play up your eyes, choose a more neutral look for your lips and vice versa
- Choose eyeshadow shades that will compliment both your eye color and skin tone
- Never share eye makeup products with others
- Save the super dark eye makeup looks for evening events
You'll want to take into consideration these tips as you plan out your look. Remember, your eyes can make or break your entire look. Too much makeup, and you can end up looking ridiculous. Not enough and you'll end up being a wall flower and just blending in with everyone else. And who wants that?:)
Top Eye Makeup Products for Various Looks
We've all seen gorgeous eye makeup looks out there. Celebrities rock them on the red carpet. Our stylish friends seem to wear them with ease. But how do we create those looks for ourselves? Most women simply don't know where to begin or which products to use. Here are some of the essential products for various popular eye makeup looks:
1. The Dramatic Cat Eye Look
For this look, you need a liquid liner for sure. The eye liner is applied in a thick, dramatic line on the top and bottom lash lines. It is extended past the outer edge of the eye to give that bold, daring look that really makes your eyes pop.
2. The Sexy, Smokey Eye Look
This look is all about the dark, smokey eyeshadows. You should always use about three shades in the same color family (ie: three grays, three browns or three charcoals). Use the darkest one in the crease, the medium one on the lid and the lightest one on your brow bone. Finish off with a kohl eyeliner. Don't use a liquid eye liner, because you need to smudge and blend the liner in to the underlying eyeshadow.
3. The Natural Eye Makeup Look
This look is the easiest and in our opinion, the most flattering. Simply use a nice, skin toned shadow with a slight sheen to it. Apply it to your lid and blend into your crease and up towards your brown bone. Finish up with a natural colored mascara. The trick to this look is to blend and then blend some more. You want to subtly highlight your eyes and bring out their natural beauty without being too overpowering.
